Exposure Verification Testing
Exposure Verification · Exposure Verification overview
Exposure verification testing confirms that the chosen combination of LEV, RPE, dermal PPE and work practice is in fact limiting absorbed dose to below the relevant BMGV or BEI in the actual workforce.
Why verify
Designing controls is the first step; verifying their effectiveness in routine operation is the second. LEV capture velocities, RPE fit factors and dermal hygiene practice all degrade over time. Verification testing identifies that degradation before it becomes an enforcement or harm event.
Programme design
Verification programmes sample to a statistically defined power, target SEGs that are most exposure-relevant (not the highest-paid or most accessible), and report cohort statistics — geometric mean and 90th percentile — alongside individual results.
Acting on results
A cohort GM above 50% of the BMGV is a common review trigger. Any individual exceeding the BMGV initiates a documented investigation covering task review, RPE/LEV inspection and dermal hygiene audit.
